About CPMU

The main objective of the Planning and Economic Affairs(CPMU) Department is to support the planning process of the State and to monitor the performance of programmes and projects in the state and to ensure effective utilisation of state resources.

The functions of the Central Plan Monitoring Unit (CPMU) of the Planning & Economic Affairs Department are as follows:

  • Monitoring of all Plan Schemes in the State (State Plan Schemes, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Central Sector Schemes, Externally Aided Projects, RIDF, Major infrastructure Development Projects, PPP Projects).
  • Monitoring of MPLADS - CPMU is the Nodal Department for monitoring the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme in the State.
  • Monitoring of Twenty Point Programme (TPP) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Follow up actions on the initiatives of NITI Aayog, MoSPI and other GoI departments / agencies in plan related matters.
  • Nodal Department to function as the Secretariat of the State Level Empowered Committee for co-ordinating the activities of the four missions, viz. Housing Mission (LIFE), Health Mission (Aardram), Education Mission (Pothu Vidyabhyasa Samrakshana Yajnjam) and Harithakeralam Mission (Sanitation, Water Resources and Agriculture).
